Special Education Teacher

New Story is currently seeking to fill the position of Special Education Teacher in our Wyoming School.

The Special Education Teacher is responsible for developing, maintaining and documenting all instructional and behavioral programs within the school setting.  The Special Education Teacher is responsible for overseeing classroom dynamics and functioning of all staff within their classroom.  .

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Completing the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) process
  • Development of lesson plans which include sufficient planning of activities to keep students actively engaged in learning.  Lesson plans should be tailored to meet the individual needs of students based on IEP goal and objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with members of the multidisciplinary team to develop/design and implement appropriate services.
  • Provide appropriate guidance, leadership and direction to staff within the classroom.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include:

  • Four (4) year degree from a college or university with a PA public school Special Education Teaching Certificate
  • Minimum of six months experience with children with behavior/learning disorders.

School Counselor

New Story is currently seeking to fill the position of School Counselor at our Wyoming School.

The School Counselor is responsible for guidance in the development and maintenance of the school counseling program, including the following:

  • Conducting prescribed individual/group counseling sessions
  • Conducting needs assessments on an ongoing basis
  • Developing materials for use in individual/group counseling sessions
  • Oversee therapeutic relationships between staff and students
  • Develop and update behavior/treatment plans as necessary


Qualifications for the School Counselor:

  • Master’s degree in mental health related field of study
  • Valid PA professional license in the field of counseling, social work or another related discipline. LSW or LCSW a must.
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience providing individual/group counseling services to children

Classroom Support Staff

New Story is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Full-Time Classroom Support Staff (CSS) in our Wyoming School for the 2017-2018 School Year

The CSS works collaboratively with the Special Education Teacher to fulfill the curricular and behavioral needs of the students.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:
• Work collaboratively with members of the multi-disciplinary team.
• Implement appropriate behavior management strategies and techniques.
• Assist, monitor and guide students.
• Record data to assist students with development of independent skills outlined in the IEP through the use of positive behavior plans and systems within all settings. 

Minimum Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalency plus six months experience working with children with behavioral/learning disorders; OR
• A four year degree from a college or university with PA Public School Teaching Certificate.

New Story is seeking a FULL-TIME Custodian to work in our Wyoming location. 35 Hours per week; Afternoon and Evening hours; Hours are flexible.

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining building in a clean and orderly condition. This position is primarily responsible for performing cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing carpet, washing walls and glass, removing trash, etc.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Clean lavatory basins, inside/outside surrounds of sinks.
•Clean traps/fill drain traps.
•Refill toilet paper, paper towel and soap dispensers.
•Wipe tiles, polish mirrors, empty trash cans and clean and mop floors in all restrooms.
•Vacuum carpet throughout building (spot clean where necessary).
•Sweep/vacuum and damp mop all hard flooring.
•Damp dust furniture/desks, dust and damp wipe fixtures & fittings (skirting, pipes, window ledges).
•Empty trash, remove marks from glass, doors and walls, clean telephones in all classrooms, group rooms, staff rooms, offices, meeting rooms and library
•Wash/clean outdoor building surfaces such as windows, frames, doors, sidewalks, asphalt, etc.
•Keep grounds/parking lot free from trash, leaves and debris.
•Empty outside trash containers and cigarette receptacles.
•Sweep, shovel and salt building entrances/exits.
•Salt slippery areas of parking lot, sidewalks and stoops when necessary.
•Assess and report any unsafe conditions.

High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 1 years’ experience providing custodial/cleaning services.
